Yesterday it was our Monthly Club stamping date. A wonderful group of Ladies get together each month in my studio. We make 2 or so projects - sometimes cards - sometimes 3D items such as boxes or treat holders. Each month we have different Hostesses who get the Stampin' Rewards from all of the orders. We even have 2 "virtual members" who don't live near me. They join us by skype or facebook video during the stamping time.
This month we did the Eclipse Technique. This is such a fun way to create striking cards. I started making one or two a while ago. It's so addicting that after about 7 of them I had to force myself to move on to something else! Yes it is very fun. Here are the two cards we made yesterday ...
The first one uses Painted Harvest stamp set and the Large Letter dies.
The second one uses Merry Patterns stamp set and the Large Letter dies.
We had so much fun creating these two cards. Some of the Ladies got quite creative with their letter die cuts - I also had the Large Number dies and they were used as well. You can use any word up to 4 letters on a "regular" sized card. We did discover (and this is not my idea but one from a club member) that if you use the Foam Strips instead of dimensionals to pop your letters up, you will get a much better result. The strips are thicker than the dimensionals and lift the letters up higher allowing more of the dark background to peek through! Voila, it's just that easy.
I also did a card using the Happy Birthday die....
This is a beautiful card, but WARNING there are a LOT of small itty bitty pieces to keep track of and place back inside the sentiment once it has been applied to the card. But I think it's so worth the extra time and effort.
